Take some time for yourself, you won’t regret it

With a tiny bundle of joy at the centre of your universe it can be difficult to carve out time for yourself. While there’s no doubt that you adore your baby, it’s essential to make ‘me-time’ to focus on yourself, if even just for a little while.

Every parent has experienced the challenge of finding time to do everything they need and want to do, because children turn our lives upside-down – in the best way. Finding time to do the things you really want to do is an important part of having a child; it’s all about balance.

While you won’t be able to do things exactly as you did them before, you’ll end up finding a more efficient or faster way to do the things you once did.

Here are a few helpful tips for finding time for yourself:

  1. Take some time to think about all the things you can do in different ways and shorter time. Write them down and put the list on the fridge to take a look at when you do have some free time. This way you don’t have to put much thought into it when the time comes.
  2. Use baby’s nap time or bed time as ‘me-time’. Putting baby down for a rest gives you time to have that bubble bath you love or start reading that book you’ve been hoping to begin.
  3. Do not hesitate! When the opportunity for ‘me-time’ presents itself, take it! Don’t use the excuses of being tired or not having time. It’s time to seize the opportunity.
