Important questions when choosing a preschool for your child

12 Feb 2018

Choosing a preschool is a big and important decision. This is where your child is going to be spending a lot of their time. You most certainly want it to be a safe environment, but also a fun place where your child can play and learn, with fun and caring staff.

Here are a few things to ask yourself:

What makes a good preschool?

  • How many staff members are there per child? The more, the better
  • How high is staff turnover? A low turnover can be an indication that the staff are happy
  • Are the staff trained in early childhood education or do they have specialist skills?
  • What are the surroundings like at the school is the classroom nice and what outdoor facilities does the school have?
  • Are the teachers/caregivers properly trained in basic first aid?

Above all, it is important for you to trust your instincts with decisions like this. Think about your first impressions of each school, make sure you do your research and look at various options before making your final decision.
