Cuddlers donation set to make a big impact

Childsafe, which works closely with The Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital, said Cuddlers donation of 13 car seats, facilitated through Wheel Well, will ensure children leaving the hospital will be transported to their destinations safely. The Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital is the only dedicated child health institution in the country and offers a comprehensive range of specialist paediatric services to children.

Childsafe is a campaign of the Child Accident Prevention Foundation of Southern Africa and Safe Kids Worldwide; which promotes optimal health and development. Childsafe aims to reduce and prevent intentional and unintentional injuries of all severity through research, education, environmental change and recommendations for legislation.

In recognition of National Children’s Day last year, Cuddlers made a R17 500 donation to Wheel Well, a unique organisation that focuses on road and child safety. Wheel Well used the money to purchase 13 car seats which were handed over to Childsafe.

The donation was made after Cuddlers made a plea on social media – pledging to donate R5 for every like and share their National Children’s Day post received on 4 and 5 November last year. Murray Booth, head of marketing at Cuddlers, said he was thrilled with Wheel Well’s decision to donate the car seats to Childsafe. “Wheel Well, Childsafe and The Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital all play a vital role in the safety of children across the country. It gives Cuddlers great comfort to know that our contribution, facilitated by our greater Cuddlers Community, is going to impact the lives of children who have been victims of neglect, abuse and/or pain.”
